INSIDE THE BAG

IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE SHORT FILM, GO WATCH IT NOW!

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

So for this section we want to glorify the amazing artists and builders at LEGACY EFFECTS.  These guys did such an amazing job putting this prop together.  For a shop that makes 100 different guns a year for major Hollywood films, they really didn't have to partake in another big gun for a tiny project.  But we're so very glad they did.  Watching you create something in your amazing workshop was a childhood dream come true, guys.  Your professionalism has no competition.

We also need to big-up SUPERVIXEN from Sydney, Australia for the most unique rifle design in recent history.  They're the most creative, collaborative team we've ever had the pleasure of working with, and this short film would be quite underwhelming without them.  All of the conceptual work below is from their minds.  Working alongside you fellas is what young boys dream about (granted that sounds bad).

This project originally spawned from us wanting to play with a longer narrative timeline, consciously trying to instill it with elements that inspire us as directors.  An urban New York backdrop?  Check.  A quiet minimal journey-based story?  Check.  A subtle smattering of sci-fi that begs for questions to be answered damn it?!  Checkity... check.

At a time when video games have 9 year old kids knowing everything there is to know about military weaponary and tactics, we thought it would be interesting to put a giant alien rifle in the hands of our young lead, and see what he'd do with it.  Trek out to a remote field and shoot at tin cans of course.

Scroll down to view the conceptual step-by-step process of creating the sci-fi weapon for the film, THE BLOCK-NOSED RIFLE.
